Folio, leather, binding renewed, title on spine in red and gilt stamping, new endpapers, illustrated frontispiece, title in red and black, large printer's mark, illustrated dedication, large folded porrait of John Maurice of Nassau by C. van Dalen, after Govert Flinck and complete with all texts and plans. In cardboard box with faux-leather spine and title in red and gilt stamping. Scarce and in very good condition.
Pieter Post (1608 -1669) was a Dutch architect and painter. In 1645 he became court architect to stadtholder Frederick Henry and Amalia of Solms. Post can be considered an important representative of Dutch classicism, together with Philip Vingboons and Arent van 's-Gravesande. He recieved commissions from various Dutch city councils. His most accompalished work is Maastricht city hall. (Cf. Wikipedia).
