Early 19th-century Islamic book of verses
Folio, leather binding with embroidery and centered stylised motifs; rebound. First part with an illustrated double leaf with text and two abundantly wrought embroideries with floral motif; all edges gold-heightened, first ca. 200 pp. each with a small image in the text, coloured and gold-heightened, followed by a Persian (?) Pegasus image. The second part with an illustrated double leaf more or less similar to the former and furthermore ca. 400 pp. of text. 18 torn leaves roughly repaired with tape. The "Pegasus" image was probably added later.
Combined with a second book of verses, [ca. 1900]. Small folio, half leather, marbled boards. The text interleaved with small illustrations. The 14 coloured double-page images are depicted in a manner similar to that in the first book. We were unable to further trace this and the first book. (total 2)
