[Biblia Paedts 1611, in special binding] Biblia: Dat is, De gantsche heylighe Schrift,
grondelick ende trouvvelick verduytschet (...). Leiden, Jan Paedts Jacobszoon/ ende Jan Brouwenszoon, 1611, (32),531,(48) leaves, (1),34,(7) p., contemporaneously bound between wooden boards covered with purple velvet, with embroidered decoration overlaid in silver thread in the shape of leaf tendrils and tulips, front board with central leather medallion with owner's initials "AVB" and embroidered flower, back board with similar central medallion with embroidered flower, all edges gilt and finely chiselled.
Vaguely waterstained at the beginning and more heavily so at the end, several quires with small wormholes/ tunnels (text minimally affected). Rebound with new endpapers and black velvet spine, wood of the boards visible, silver thread oxidised. Flyleaf with several vaguely legible ownership marks (imprinted in the paper) which could reveal with further research the identity of this "Avb". Very rare example of an early 17th-century textile binding, deserving of a good restoration.
