Londen, printed by Cox and Baylis for Black, Parbury and Allen, and for John Murray, 1817, 2 vols., 1st ed., XLVIII, 479; VIII, 288,(4), CCLX (appendix) p., large folding engraved map, 2 frontispieces, 65 aquatints/engravings, 10 of which hand-coloured costume plates, contemporary uniform calf, spines richly gilt with 2 contrasting title shields, 4to.
Both volumes lack the half title and are equipped with a new spine, using the original spine strips (damaged). Vol. 1 has p. 361-362 unnumbered and added as plate to the plate index as usual; vol. 2 has p. 239-240 incorrectly bound after p. 247. In all, a good set.
Only 900 copies were printed of this first edition. Remains the major standard on Java.
