[Borneo] The expedition to Borneo of H.M.S. Dido
for the suppression of piracy: with extracts from the journal of James Brooke Esq. of Sarawak (...). By Captain the Hon. Henry Keppel, R.N. Third edition. With an additional chapter, comprising recent intelligence, by Walter K. Kelly. Londen, Chapman and Hall, 1847, 2 vols., XIV,429; VIII,315 p., both vols. with lithographed frontispiece, 6 (large) folding lithographed maps in total, 9 lithos and 1 folding table, original blind-stamped cloth.
Both volumes sl. waterstained (vol. 2 worse, including the binding) and some smaller defects. Altogether a good set. Famous account of the 18-month (1843-1844) maritime anti-piracy mission at Borneo by Keppel and Brooke. The first edition appeared in 1846; the fact that a third edition was needed in 1847 says a lot about the popularity of the book.
