Anna Maria van Schurman was the first woman allowed to attend lectures at the University of Utrecht, albeit from behind a curtain so male students could not see her. She was a humanist, linguist, theologian, poet, artist and entomologist. Opuscula contains works by Van Schurman and correspondence and poems by friends in academia.
