Amersfoort, M. Langewagen, 1748, 44 p., contemporary marbled cover with paper title label on front cover, small 4to.

Contents tender and paper cover damaged along spine. Good, uncut copy with contemporary owner's name of Isaac Barre on inside cover. Interesting and rare list (editions exist from 1748, 1766, 1767 and 1774) of horribly punished criminals, with those convicted of sodomy being particularly striking. One example can be found on page 33-34. Willem Kriekelandt and Pieter Diedel (p. 42), too, were thrown in the river Y for their sodomy. Furthermore, the breaking on the wheel and decapitation of chirurgeon Hidde Grettinga (p. 9), with emotional letters to his children included in this publication, is remarkable, as are several executions of boys no older than 14 or 15 and the large number of offenders aged only 17 or 18.
