Marcello Palingenio (ca. 1500-ca. 1543) pseudonym (and anagram) of Pier Angelo Manzolli. The first edition of this successful satyrical and anti-clerical poem, reprinted countless times, appeared in 1536 in Venice. The book was placed on the index of forbidden books in 1559.
