[Binding with the arms of Meaux] Histoire de la religion des eglises reformées,
depuis Jesus-Christ, jusqu'a present (...) par monsieur Basnage. Nouvelle Edition augmentée des sept premiers Siecles de l'Eglise; les precedentes ne commançant qu'au huitième. Rotterdam/ The Hague, A. Acher/ P. Husson, 1725, 2 volumes, (14),331,(1),3-315[=515],(11); 717,(19) p., titles in red and black, 1 engraved vignette above the dedication to Gerard Fagel, bound in uniform polished calf, all boards with centered gilt arms of Meaux, gilt, ribbed backs with 2 contrasting morocco title shields, 4to.
Lacks part of index leaf Xxxx ii of the first volume, with some loss to text; both volumes here and there waterstained in blank top margin and tanned due to the leather on the inside of the boards; leather across hinges split and outer corners of boards bumped.
The third, enhanced edition (first: 1690) and the first edition published in 4to. See extensively on the author: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacques_Basnage. In an extraordinary binding, of which we could not find any other examples. The crown above the arms of Meaux belongs to a count.
