[Travels. Tasman etc.] Collection of manuscript quires on Dutch 17th-century explorers,

written in various hands in Dutch, all but one 19th century, probably collected and partly written by Ulrich Gerard Lautz (1787-1865), mostly loose, 4to and folio sizes, together in contemp. half roan portfolio with (worn) ties, w. letterpress number "354" on a ticket on the front cover, folio size.

Interesting study collection of mostly copies with additional annotations, including a few copies of the same text. Incl.: (1) Een kort verhaal uyt het journael van den Commandeur Abel Jansen Tasman int ontdecken van 't onbekende zuijd lant". 9 lvs (17 p. of text), loose in later wrapper, folio. This is the only older copy in the collection, probably dating from the first quarter of the 18th century; (2) "Lijst der voornaamste Nederl. ontdekkingen door Bennet en v. Wijk, 22 bladz. in perkamenten omslag. fol. Handschrift met vele verbeteringen een aanvullingen door G. Lauts" (letterpress clipping from an auction catalogue on front cover); (3) Tasmans ontdekkingstogt naar het Zuidland 14 aug. 1642 - 15 junij 1643" (title on frayed front wrapper). 121 p., folio. With annotation on p. 1: "Dit afschrift door L. naauwkeurig gecollationeerd op het H.S. van den tijd toen de ontdekkingstogt is gedaan, welk H.S. Behoort tot het huisarchief van de familie Huydecoper van Maarseveen."; (4) Togt van Marten Gerritz. de Vries tot ontdekking van de Oostkust van Tartarye, Cathay & de Goud- en Silverryke Eilanden, van 4 April - 18 novb. 1643" (title on frayed front wrapper). 150,(1) p., folio. (17) p., 4to; (6) "Instructie voor den schipper commandeur Marten Gerritsen Vries [sic] en den Raad van 't fluyt-schip Castricum en 't jagt Breskens, gedestineerd tot ontdekkinge van die onbekende Oostkust van Tartarien (...)." 42 p., 4to. With manuscript annotation on p. 1: "Instructie van 2 Febr. 1643. Dezelfde instructie is bij Leupen in Reize van Maraten Gz Vries in 1643 naar Japan, b. 11-31 (...)."; (7) "Een kort verhaal uyt het Journaal van den kommandeur Abel Jansen Tasman, int ontdekken van 't onbekende suit-lant". 6 lvs. (12 p. of text), threadbound, 4to.
