Embellished with superb engravings. London, J. Roach, 1794-1797, 24 parts in 6 volumes, each part with engraved frontispiece and engraved title, contemporary uniform full morocco with gilt back, small 8vo.

Here and there slightly tanned/foxed (esp. the plates and due to the leather at beginning and end); spine ends worn; part 6 with torn hinge. Fine set with 19th-century owner's stamp "S. Duvaucel" on the free endpaper of all parts. This may be Sophie Duvaucel (1789-1867), mostly known for her correspondence with Stendhal and as stepdaughter of Cuvier. Contains abridged texts by Moore, Pope, Milton, Dryden, Cowper, Swift and others.
