[In unique sculptural decorative box] Solomon. Song of Songs
Dallas, 1991. Limited to 30 copies. The text is an extract from the Song of Songs, where King Solomon celebrates the beauty of women. Printed entirely by silkscreen on handmade paper by Sobota. The binding is of full natural goatskin dyed on the front in shade of green, to resemble a pear. Back cover is blind-tooled to resemble a feminine torso.
A production of the J. Sobota Bindery in Richardson, Texas. The sculptural decorative box is unique. The book lies in the center of the box. The design is a three-dimensional version of the book. The sculpture base is made of laminated paper covered with leather. The front of the box resembles a woman's torso from a front perspective, and is covered in dark brown calf skin. The rear cover resembles a pear, and is covered with goatskin dyed to a brownish-green. On top of the pear is attached a stem made of a leather-covered wire. Housed in a protective box.
