[Occultism/ riddles] Two titles in German: (1) Neu vermehrtes Rath-Büchlein,
Erffurdt, J.G. Herzen, n.d. (ca. 1655?), (79) p., partly printed in very large type, with title woodcut and 4 woodcuts in the text, without binding, small 8vo.
Browned, with wormholes and with reinforced spine. Extremely rare edition of a very popular riddle-chapbook of which many editions appeared, from the 17th century to today, the genre even dates back to the late Middle Ages. Worldcat lists only one copy of our variant (Stockholm, with only 64 p.), we kept the (early) dating of this copy. Most 17th-century editions have as final line in the title "Mit vexier rathen und anders mehr" (our edition without "und").
(2) Die Mysterien der Magnetomagie; oder Enthüllung der Geheimnisse des Magnetismus (...). Nach A. Ségouin und andern Atoritäten. Weimar, V.F. Voigt, 1854, XII,144 p., with lithographed frontispiece and 7 illustrations on 3 engraved "magnetischen" plates, contemporary half cloth (ex-library copy with consequent defects). The frontispiece depicts a group of people busy "tischrücken", the other plates show how this is done (total 2).
