[Beautifully handcoloured and gold-heightened] "Cinquante meditations
de toute l'histoire de la passion de nostre seigneur, du Latin de R.P.F. Coster (...). A Paris, chez Robert Foüet, 1608." Engraved title page by C. de Mallery, 11.8 x 6.8 cm., and 6 (of ?) engraved illustrations (2x by L. Gaultier), each 10.5 x 6.5 cm., all seven engravings beautifully antiquely coloured and gold-heightened, together in one old frame.
With top corners pasted to cloth which has become slightly bumpy (as are the prints - these easily restorable). The prints have more or less been promoted to individual works of art by the colourist, which would not look bad as In memoriam cards; they deserve new framing. The book from which the title page and the prints originate is very rare. An earlier edition appeared at Plantijn, in 1587.
