Bifolium written on one side (16 lines), dated Paris, 12 August 1688 and signed "François de Rohan" and with his wax seal, also signed ("contresigné") by secretary "Monseigneur Paton", 19 x 24 cm.

Folds, small holes outside the text. The first five lines are occupied by all (noble and military) ranks and occupations of François de Rohan. One of those occupations is "Capitaine Lieutenant de la compagn. des gendarmes de la garde du Roy". Our letter is a certificate which carries the official confirmation of the service of "Pierre Pelerin escuier sieur de Champlasteau" as gendarme of the aforementioned company in the year the document was drawn up.
