Handwritten nomination, "To my very loving friends the Principal Officers of his Mts Ordnance", dated "Given at the Office of Ordnance this 10th day of Decem. 1718", below the text (written by a secretary) signed "Marlborough" and "Tho. Frankland" (Master General of the Ordnance), top left a wax seal under paper, 37.5 x 24.7 cm., kept in a file of manuscript trader Maison Charavay and a collector's file, together with several documents and a "Certificat pour un bien culturel" (no French national heritage).
Three torn-in horizontal folds, traces of mounting (visible recto). In the letter, "The bearer hereof" Edward Jackson is appointed "Clerk Extra of the stores belonging tot this office at Chatham", for a fee of 36 pound a year, from 1 January 1719.
