[Belgian Revolution 1830-1831] 3 caricatures: (1) "La liberté ou la mort! Vive le Belgues
et Français en bas les Hollandais & touts les amis d'ordre et de paix." Watercolour/ gouache caricature, 18.2 x 28.3 cm, ca. 1830, mounted on board.
Interesting caricature, in which the Dutch king William II is shown kneeling, while a cardinal pours wine over his head and a monk is holding the king's crown. Large groups of soldiers are present at this "ceremony", which is also watched by armed citizens from a balcony above. And 2 others similar, about the same size and both similarly mounted: (2) A grisaille drawing depicting the hanging of dressed puppets; (2) A drawing in brown ink depicting fighting soldiers in various costumes and from various historical periods (total 3).
