Relief print, printed from two cliché blocks in black and orange, printed monogram, with book printing in grey, leaf dimensions 17.2 x 15 cm. (minor creasing to bottom left corner).

Bool/ Locher 382 (as woodcut from two blocks printed in blue-grey and brown). This is a new edition of the print with different colours, pasted in the periodical Boekcier, Tweede Reeks, Nummer 3, fourteenth year, July 1959. Printed explanation below the print: "Tekening M.C. Escher, Baarn 1952; onderwerp: aarde, nummer 1 van de reeks De vier elementen. Een oplage voor dit nummer, in nieuwe kleuren-combinatie, is ons door Ir. Eug. Strens ter beschikking gesteld."
