First edition of these collected works by the controversial physician, physiologist and alchemist. Van Helmont was banned from publishing by the church tribunal at Mechelen; this was rescinded in 1646 after his death, hence the Cologne edition in 1644 and in 1648 the Amsterdam edition of these important theoretical treatises.
