[Optical prints] Two finely coloured prints: (1) "De Orange Tuyn Voorgedraagen

aandewaare [sic] vrienden van Doorluchtig Huis van Oranje & Nassau en aande vrienden van't Vaaderland." "Le jardin 'd'Orange: dedié aux vrais amis (...)." Very finely contemp. handcol. and "gommée" engr. optical print, 31 x 40 cm, Augsburg, G.B. Probst, ca. 1790, under passe-partout.

A bit creased and sl. soiled in (very wide) margins. A very good, exquisitely handcol. copy. Cf. Muller, (Historieprenten), 4987. The rare print depicts a garden with the five busts of William V, Frederica Louisa Wilhelmina and their three children. The sky is clear and sunny on one side, but shows thunderclouds on the other side, illustrating the difficult political situation the Netherlands were in at the time; (2) "Excercise cavaleresque olympiques" (ttle in reverse). Finely contemp. handcol. and gommé engr. optical print, 31 x 40,5 cm, Augsburg, G.B. Probst, ca. 1790, with engr. titles in Latin, French, Italian and German and "Med. Fol.o No. 51" below the image, numbered 207 in upper right corner (a few tiny defects) (total 2).
