Marsilius, 1579, 419,(5) leaves, with woodcut printer's marks on title and (differently) at the end, several letterpress illustrations, contemporary profusely blindstamped pigskin across wooden boards, both boards with bordered margin with the four evangelists around a central ornamented plane, ribbed back.

With crossed-out old owner's marks to the title and to inside front board; somewhat foxed; partly with small water stain to corners. Good, finely bound copy. Palau no. 333090. Not in De Backer-Sommervogel or Baudrier. Very rare early edition. The first edition of this work appeared at Rome, in 1572. The Jesuit Francisco de Toledo (1532-1596) was a prominent Spanish philosopher and theologian, with many highly-valued commentaries on Aristotle.
