Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn (1606-1669). (The artist drawing from the model
('het beeldt van Pigmalion')). Etching and drypoint, 23.5 x 18.5 cm, c. 1639, mounted at left margin under plain passe-partout.
Trifle foxed; browned at upper edge. New Hollstein 176, 4th (or later?) (Basan) state. A good impression and an interesting copy of this unfinished etching on chine-collé, the sheet on which the very thin Chinese paper is pasted, is of rather fibrous laid (Japanese?) paper.
