[Theology. Author's copy?] Johannes Coccei S. Theol. Professoris Defensio altera
Auctoritatis verbi divini veteris testamenti, quod est in Hebraico codice & ejus lectione recepta, adversus appendicem Hagiensum libri de LXX. interpretibus. Amsterdam, C. Commelin, 1664, (4),60 p., woodcut printer's mark on the title, contemporary vellum, 4to.
Waterstaining to top right-hand corner; endpapers detached from boards. With crossed-out owner's inscription (?) on the title page: "Johann. [?] Coccejus: Lugd. Bat. 1664", probably a copy of Cocceius (Johannes Coch) himself. Rare, only 2 copies in PiCarta (no copy at UB Leiden). Cocceius (1603-1669) was a theologian and philologist, mostly known for his conflicts with Voetius over covenant theology and the sabbath. This conflict divided the reformed church far into the 18th century. In 1650 he was appointed professor at Leiden, where he died of the plague in 1669. He was buried in the Pieterskerk (with cenotaph).
