Bici Forbes, Egg/Time Event, 1967

Egg hidden in plaster block with rubber stamped text in red. 9.5 x 9.5 x 9 cm. Text reads Egg/Time Event/ One Hen Egg/ Do not open for 100 years/ Feb 22 1967. A smaller version of the work is part of the Gilbert and Lila Silverman Fluxus Collection at MOMA New York. No other copy located. In mint state, very rare.

Bici Forbes is also known as Bici Hendricks and Nye Ffarrabas. She set up her own publishing house Black Thumb Press in New York (1965) and participated in several Fluxus events. A notorious one was Fluxus Divorce Event (1971), a collaboration between her and her ex-husband, Geoff Hendricks, in which they chopped up their communal household objects and wedding documents.
