The first edition with the very nice (partly erotic) illustrations of Romeyn de Hooghe, was published with the same address in 1701. The work consists of a series of originally narrated humorous short stories, collected by the French courtier, educator an writer Antoine de La Salle (ca. 1385-1460). It was first published in 1486 but apparently already presented in manuscript to the Duke of Burgundy at Dijon in 1462.
