[Bindings] Three 19th cent. German embroidered bindings: (1) Full calf binding
ca. 1850-1860, both covers with a different, mounted Christian embroidery in silver framing-line, all corners of both sides w. silver or steel cornerpieces with attached openworked brass ornament, similarly decorated clasp and catch, gilt spine, turn-ins and edges of covers, silk endpapers, a.e.g., 16.5 x 10.5 cm.
The cloth sheets carrying the embroideries w. worn spots. On: J.A. Schneider. Gebeth und Erbauungsbuch für katholische Christen (Vienna, n.d. (ca. 1850), w. engr. plates). -and 2 similar others. Very fine and rare examples of German embroidered bindings. Added: finely embroidered wallet. (total 4)
