Three antique faux book boxes
18th cent. 2 of the faux books are hollow copies of Le Philosophe Anglois (1783) and Oeuvres complettes d'Alexandre Pope (1730) finely bound in calf w. gilt borders and coat of arms centerpieces, 20 x 12 cm. The 3rd is a faux book w. "Ex libris" in gilt on spine, half leather w. marbled paper boards, 32 x 25 cm.
All sl. worn. Hollow books were historically a popular and secret way to store paperwork or other secretive/important materials. (total 3)
