Some minor defects/ imperfections, but a good copy. Very rare and early address book of Cologne, listing 7404 citizens in order of the streets, with their professions. The work indexes the population of the city in 3 different ways, on address, name and profession. Probably the second or third edition (the first one appeared in 1795 and did not mention the professions of the citizens). Worldcat mentions a single copy in the The Staatsbibliothek in Berlin, by Thiriart und Compagnie, supposedly printed in 1747 but this date is almost certainly erroneous. Also listed on Worldcat are copies of an edition in magazine-form (1794-1798). Otherwise just a few copies (or one copy listed by var. sellers, without the plan) traced. Our edition contains the first mention of the later Eau de Cologne-maker (Kölnisch Wasser) Wilhelm Mülhens, under number 4711 in the Klöckergasse (Glockengasse). It also mentions other producers of Eau de Cologne (incl. Joh. Anton Farina), sculptors of the Imhoff family, printers and booksellers, printmakers, coffee producers- and houses, tobacco-dealers, wine-dealers, makers of musical instriments, jewellers, watchmakers, weapon-makers, etc. etc.
