Erasmus, D. Familiarium colloquiorum opus
Brevis eiusdem Auctoris vita. (Heidelberg), Gotthard Vögelin, 1610, 801 p., modern vellum in antique style.
The title-p. calls for an index, not present here, Worldcat lists a few Vögelin editions of around 1610, all of around 800 p., so perhaps the index was never included. Otherwise sl. browned throughout (a few quires worse and also waterst.) and w. many old underlings and marg. annots. (1x cut out of black margin). A very rare edition with intriguing entries on free endpapers by several former (partly crossed-out) owners (1x dated 1634) , incl. a few Latin sentences: "Au'doen. Cum verborum sit eras, mus nomen quid sit Erasmus. Ingenio lector colligat inde suo (...).", the words used by John Owen (Johannes Audounus, fitting with the name "Au'doen") around the time our edition was published, and later by Constantijn Huygens.
