Mieko Shiomi, rare set of the Spatial Poem artists' book plus invitation set

(1) Mieko Shiomi, Spatial Poem 1976. Osaka, Self-published, 1976. Softcover, 21 x 27.5 cm, 70 pp. First edition of this seminal artists' publication being 'the record of nine global events which were performed during the period from 1965 to 1975'. The event began with an invitation to a large number of friends and colleagues to respond to a simple instruction. The mailed responses were assembled in the book. Participants include Nam June Paik, stanley brouwn, John Baldessari, Paul Thek, Ray Johnson, Alison Knowles, La Monte Young, Wolf Vostell and many others. This copy is in fine state and has an enclosed receipt hand-signed by Shiomi.

(2) Mieko Shiomi, Invitations to Spatial Poem No.1 (1965) - No.9 (1975). N.p. Cologne, Self-published, 2020. White cardboard envelope, 33 x 24 cm, with printed title label, numbered 20/23. Contains a pink envelope with affixed content list, hand numbered 20/23 and signed by the artist. Enclosed are 13 leaflets printed on various colours and types of paper (one on acetate) with invitation texts to participate in 9 Spatial Poem events. Some leaflets are original printings, some are later copies on similar paper, as specified on the contents label. Scarce complete set of the limited edition of only 23 copies, in near mint state.
