Dick Higgins (1938-1998) was a publisher, poet, composer, artist, and critic. He ran the Something Else Press from 1963 to 1973, publishing the work of influential artists such as John Cage, Jackson Mac Low, Dieter Roth, Claes Oldenburg, Merce Cunningham, Nam June Paik, and Ray Johnson. Higgins was active in the Fluxus movement and coined the term ‘intermedia’, the blurring of traditional boundaries between artistic genres.
