Allen Ruppersberg, Catalog: Al's Grand Hotel
Los Angeles, Self-published, 1971. Staple bound, 22.5 x 15 cm, 12 pp. Offset printed b/w. First edition. Artist's book produced in conjunction with Ruppersberg's installation 'Al's Grand Hotel' in which the artist converted a two-floor craftsman house in Hollywood into a functional hotel with seven themed rooms.
The 'catalog' lists the items in the various rooms that are for sale, such as a blue neon sign 'Al's Grand Hotel', a wedding cake from the Bridal Suite, 7 life size photo cut-outs of the artists ($ 100 each) and a restaurant booth with plates, menus etc. from the Breakfast room. Covers and interior sheets show age toning (as is usual with this item), small abrasion on back cover. Generally a good copy. Rare.
