Pater Joannes Baptista Doemen, Carthuyser, door desselfs discipel nu geswoen Landt-Meter Martinus van Dycke (...). Brugges, P. van de Capelle, 1714. 2 parts in one vol., (10),160; 41,(1) p. (some errors). Fold. table, 36 engr. fold. plates and 1 plate w. moveable parts. Later gilt half leather. Sm. 8vo.
The very rare original edition of this mathematical treatise, with all but plate Z1 conforming to the binder's index. We could not verify (no copies with plates digitized online), but we suspect that plate Z1 was executed in pen in all copies, due to the layering of the plate and a description on page 60. A nice element of this edition are the puns: the name of the author on the title page (in a special diamond shape) and on the praise poem, where every letter of Van Dycke's full name is used as the first letter of a stanza (see images). Very rare treatise on surveying art.
