3 former owner's stamps and 2 entries on title-p. Plate of the heart w. overlaps (p. 9) strengthened verso, 1 hinge broken, binding somewhat worn, joints splitting, lacks top of spine. Despite the defects still a good copy of this rare treatise that is considered to be the first European book on physiology. In this work, both medical and philosophical in nature, Descartes theorizes the mechanics of the human body.
