[Sumatra] Cülemann family archive

Ca. 1885-1950, some pieces mentioning Sipoholon, Sipahutar and Siboga on Sumatra, and occas. mentioning the Rheinische Missions-Gesellschaft. Consists of hundreds of orig. letters, picture postcards, a few photographs, a sketchbook, a lock of hair in orig. envelope and some related documents; among the loose letters approx. 40 letters in stamped addressed envelopes dating from World War II and labelled 'Geöffnet'.

Very interesting, extensive archive, giving a personal and professional insight into the work of the Rheinische Missions-Gesellschaft (Rijnlands Zendelingsgenootschap), one of the largest German protestant missionary organisations, founded in 1828. (total approx. 350)
