[Africa] Travel photo albums, collection of four
Dated between 1938-1942. Each album w. approx. 150 silver gelatine prints, all tipped-in to filled/ mostly filled albums, many photos/ pages w. handwritten captions in French (seemingly in the same hand), also incl. some loosely inserted negatives. Photographs featuring a Belgian man named 'Paul' and his friends, capturing their travel experiences. Most pictures of the Congo (one album w. a map of 'the Belgian Congo'), but also incl. some of Burundi, Rwanda and Zimbabwe (Victoria Falls) and one entire album is dedicated to South Africa.
Incl. a.o.: (1) Photos of the voyage on the ship (and a few stops) to the Congo. (2) Num. photos of the flora and fauna of the Congolese region. (3) Photos of a.o. Kabalo, Kasongo, Kongolo, Kananga (Luluabourg), Nioka, along the Ruindi and Ruzizi Rivers, and a few sm. Congolese villages.
