Iguanodon, Museum of Natural Sciences in Brussels
Albumen print mounted on cardboard, image approx. 21 x 27.5 cm, mount 32 x 48 cm. Ca. 1880. Titled on the mount, 'Iguanodon in Brussels Museum,' written in pen in the bottom right corner.
Foxing around the edges of mount, age discolouration and a foxed spot on the image. Overall good condition.
*The iguanodon in the image was discovered in a Bernissart coal mine in 1878 and re-assembled by the Belgian paleontologist Louis Dollo. Interesting detail; although the skeleton is shown standing on two legs, it is nowadays believed that iguanodon stood on all four.
