Two works in one volume: (1) (Court, P. de la). Interest van Holland,

ofte gronden van Hollands-Welvaren. Amst., J.C. v.d. Gracht, 1662. (16),267,(5) p., cont. calf w. gilt and ribbed spine w. mor. letterpiece. For the greater part waterst., upper joint split but good holding on cords. First edition of a work that caused a stir upon publication; it was called dangerous and scandalous. De la Court defended himself by stating that it had been published without his consent and that the denounced parts were not written by him. Nonetheless, this analysis of the great economic success of Holland is still seen as one of the most important treatises on economics and political freedom. Van Doorninck, 607; Knuttel, 8652. Bound with: (2) Verdediging van Denemarken, en de republijk-man ontmaskert, of rechtmatige berisping des verhaels van Denemarken, tot wederlegging van een boekje, genaemt De Vrye Staets-Regering, geschetst in een beschryving van Denemarken, so als 't was in den jare 1692. The Hague, P. van Tol etc., 1696, 304 p. Sm. wormholes in lower inner corner at the end. Very rare, only 2 copies in NCC.
