Bouttats, G. Two very rare works in one volume
(1) Korte en nette beschryvinghe van de koninckrycken Hongheryen en Dalmatien, midts-gaeders de vorstendommen van Sevenbergen, Wallachien, Moldavien en sterckten in de selve gheleghen, oock haere grens-paelen, om-ligghende Golfen en Eylanden. In 't coper ghesneden door Gaspar Bouttats. Antwerp, H. van Dunewalt and G. Bouttats, 1688, 47,(1) p., w. 44 engr.: 1 portrait, 42 plates w. (bird's eye) views and 1 other plate, by Bouttats (incl. 3 plates w. 4 sm. views each), cont. calf w. gilt and ribbed spine, obl. 8vo. Scattered library stamps, vaguely waterst. almost throughout, some other internal imperfections. Binding worn/ a bit dam. With bookseller's ticket of Martinus Nijhoff (The Hague) on inside front cover. (2) Coronelli, V.M. and G. Bouttats. Korte, beknoopte, beschryvinghe van het koninck-ryck Morea. Ende der selver steden en vestinghen, midts-gaders sijne grens-paelen, om ligghende golfen, en eylanden, verciert met fijne caerten, en af beltsels van meest alle de steden, haven en de eylanden in koper ghesneden (...). Ghemaeckt door P.M. Coronelli (...). Ende nu by een vergaedert door G.B. (Gaspar Bouttats). Ibid., idem, n.d. Frontisp. w. partly repaired tear, otherwise w. the same internal defects as the preceding.
Extremely rare first editions of works produced in response to the Great Turkish War (1683-1699) and the Sixth Ottoman-Venetian War (1684-1699). Only a few copies traced in OCLC. Both not in Tiele; cf. Zacharakis 430b (later ed. of second work).
