Roland Holst, Richard (1868-1938). Three lithographs from the series De Plaat

Var. sizes, all monogrammed on the stone, two prints dated 12-5-99 and 1-99 on the stone, the other print undated but issued in 1898, all printed on heavy paper and under passepartout. All margins verso w. paper strip.

The series De Plaat was edited by P.J. Troelstra and Roland Holst as a free addition to De Sociaaldemocraat. Tibbe p. 138: "De onderwerpen zijn sociale wantoestanden of politieke gebeurtenissen. (...) De complete serie zou uit 12 prenten moeten bestaan, maar er is geen enkel volledig exemplaar over. Mogelijk zijn er ook nooit 12 platen geweest: een met de hand geschreven inventarislijst van R.N. Roland Holst in het Rijksprentenkabinet vermeldt slechts vier nummers voor De Plaat (...)."
