Henrie Waste was the pseudonym for Ettie Stettheimer (1875–1955). She and her sisters, Carrie and Florine, were known socialites amongst the artistic and intellectual community in New York, hosting an influential salon at their home. They befriended Marcel Duchamp, who features as a character in the novel named Pierre Delaire, a French cubist painter. Other recognizable artworld appearances include Maxim Gorky and the Delaunays. The protagonist Susanna Moore is based on Ettie herself. Love Days is considered a feminist novel, asserting that romantic love is not compatible with a woman’s self- realization. Referenced in Francis M. Naumann, New-York Dada 1915-1923.
