Albert Huyot (1872-1968) was a student of Gustave Moreau and close friend of Henri Matisse. In the 1920s he created numerous collages affiliated with Dadaist aesthetics and 'physical cubism', a term coined by Guillaume Apollinaire. He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon d’Automne and the Salon des Tuileries, and participated in the French section of the seminal First International Art Exhibition held in Düsseldorf in 1922.
