Staple bound, 29.7 x 21 cm, 40 pp. First issue of the important international avantgarde periodical which aimed to be 'an organ of all manifestations of the modern spirit, a documentation of all new trends in art, science, philosophy, and sociology'. Published by Arthur Müller Lehning, editors-in-chief included J. J. P. Oud (architecture), Willem Pijper (music), and Laszlo Moholy-Nagy (film and photography). Twenty two issues were published between 1927 and 1929, multilingually in Dutch, German, and some English.

This rare first issue contains contributions by Wassily Kandinsky, Ernst Bloch, Piet Mondriaan, and numerous other artists and architects. The list of contributors is quite impressive and includes Hans Arp in Zurich, Le Corbusier in Paris, Vilmos Huszar in Berlin, El Lissitzky in Moscow, Kurt Schwitters in Hannover et al. Red paper cover shows toning and slight dampstaining, with some red colour offset on the adjacent side. Light creasing in lower right corner, else a fine copy.
