Jenny Holzer. Five Survival Series stickers, 1983 -1985
Includes two stickers published by Barbara Gladstone Gallery New York, (undated) 1983. Printed in metallic silver and black, 10.4 x 10 cm, rear side printed on brown stock with the gallery address and dates of the exhibition: 5 November - 1 December. The Truisms read: (1) Put food out in the same place every day and talk to the people who come to eat and organize them, and (2) Dance on Down to the Government and tell them you're eager to rule because you know that's good for you.
Also contains three smaller stickers, self-published, ca. 1983-1985. Printed in metallic silver and black, 6.4 x 7.2 cm, with blank brown paper rear. The texts read: (3) When you expect fair play you create an infectious bubble of madness around you. (4) Savor kindness because cruelty is always possible later, (5) When there is no safe place to sleep you're tired from walking all day and exhausted from the night because it's twice as dangerous then. The works were part of a guerrilla stickering campaign. Stunning early samples of Holzer's ongoing text-based Survival Series. In good condition. (total 5)
