André Cadere. Rare tract and invitation card

(1) Peinture Sans Fin/ Unlimited Painting, June 1973. Invitation flyer, 29.5 x 21 cm, folded twice, as issued. Issued by the artist to publicize an exhibition he joined uninvited. The group show 'A Painting Exhibition Reuniting Certain Painters Who Put Painting in Question', was organized by Michel Claura and René Denizot in an apartment at the Place Vendôme in Paris. During the opening, Cadere installed one of his signature 'unlimited paintings', - a round wooden stick - but discovered a few days later it had been removed and placed in a broom closet.

In reaction to the 'censorship' Cadere distributed this flyer, directing people to his exhibition in the closet (Cagibi) at 16 Place Vendôme. Important document illustrating Cadere's infiltration of art world decorum by exhibiting his works, illegally, in commercial galleries and museums. Light handling wear, fine cope, extremely rare. (2) Invitation card, 13 x 19 cm, published in conjunction with a Cadere show at the Bologna art fair at the booth of Galerie d’Alessandro-Ferranti from Rome, from 22-25 May 1976. Scarce. (total 2)
