[Tokens] Reformation and Counter-reformation. Two tokens: (1) Sapientes stulti aliquando/

Ecclesia perversa tenet faciem diaboli ("The wisemen are sometimes the dumbs/The perverted church got the face of the devil"). (1) Silver token mocking the Council of Trent (1545-1563), Ø3.6 cm, weight ca. 11 gr., one side showing a cardinal and (when turned) a joker, the other showing a pope and (when turned) a devil. Ecclesia perversa tenet faciem diaboli” (“The perverted church bears the face of the devil”). 'Perseva' is a play of word, also meaning "complete reversal" (by 180°). (2) Roman Catholic variant of the first token in this lot, also reversible, silver, Ø2.2 cm, weight approx. 8 gr., one side w. the heads of a pope/ monarch, the other w. the heads of a cardinal/ bisschop.
