Silver token, Ø 5 cm, weight cs. 68 gr., recto w. bust to the left surrounded by the text "Vigilius Zulichemus Praeses Sec. Con. Caes.Z Reg. M.", w. the text "Eat. (?) XLIX (1549) in lower margin, verso flat. Rare. Wigle van Aytta van Swichem (Latin: Viglius ab Aytta Zuichemus), important Dutch statesman under the Habsburg kings Charles V and his son Philip II, humanist, lawyer and defender of Catholicism. He became chairman of the Privy Council (Secret Council) founded 1 October 1531 by Emperor Charles V in Brussels in 1549.
