[Tokens. The Hague] Two Dutch tokens: (1) City council token of The Hague, ca. 1730
Silver token ("vroedschapspenning") by J. Drappentier, Ø 3.7 cm, weight ca. 19 gr., recto w. a profile view of the city w. "trekvaart" towards Delft, verso w. Lady Justice and the text "Aequo Labore S.C." According to Schulman catalogue 338 (March 2012, online available), no. 1393, only 717 silver copies were struck. (2) Neighborhood token Lange- of Willige Poten, The Hague, 1645. Brass, Ø 5.1 cm, recto w. central tree w. double crown and the year 1645, recto w. text "Dit is geordin. de boet ordinaris die nit. en compar. no." Rubbed. Rare The Hague "Buurt-" or "Presentiepenning". Apparently w. number 13 stamped in low relief below the text verso.
