[Cinema] Gertrud Wolle (1891-1952) Album

Folio (49 x 33 cm) cord-bound album, 69 p. with 159 mounted photos, consisting of movie scenes and stills as well as private photos, in various sizes. Two photos signed by Wolle.

*Wolle began her career as a silent film actress, appearing in productions such as 'Die Insel der Glücklichen', (1919). During the following decades she often played supporting roles, often portraying lively or eccentric characters such as a secretaries, teachers, headmistresses, saleswomen or neighbours. She was active during the peak of German (pre-war) film industry, which was was comparable in production and prestige to Hollywood. Wolle played in many productions of the period, a.o. 'Die Drei von der Tankstelle', 'Einbrecher', 'Der wahre Jakob', 'Bomben auf Monte Carlo' and the adaption of Conan Doyle's 'Der Hund von Baskerville'.
