Late 19th century album, containing 75 photographs - (53) albumen and (22) gelatin prints- mostly 21 x 26 cm. Captions in pencil in Dutch (several w. identical captions). Containing the following subjects: Beijing (5x, incl. street views), antiquities/ landscapes in China (13), Shanghai (9x, incl. street views of the Western quarters, a wedding procession, prisoners in Cangue), Hongkong (24x, incl. 2 fold. panoramic view, views of the harbour, parade of the British military ("Indische troepen" and "Highlanders"), Macau (4x, incl. views of the harbour and city), Guangzhou (5x, incl. views of the old harbour), 2x portraits of Chinese men, fold. panoramic view of Wuzhou, Thailand (13x, incl. views of Bangkok and the Chao Phraya River and portraits of King Chulalongkorn of Siam and his family), Burma (9x, incl. views of elephants at work). Several prints appear to have been issued for commercial purposes; the majority have no identification marks. Together in a leather album, w. gilt-panelled boards and richly gilt spine, all edges gilt (34 x 42 cm).
